Rosalie

This page will explore the transformation of Western Creek where it flowed through what is now Rosalie Village and its surrounds. I’ve not managed to write anything yet, but I am delighted to share a contribution by Steven Cowley, which tells of some childhood memories of exploding drains in Herbert Street, among other things. The memories are those of Steven’s friend Rhonda, who grew up in Herbert Street in the 1970s. The page is called Guppies & geysers: memories of playing around and under Paddington in the 1970s. Enjoy!

There will be more to come, but I wouldn’t suggest holding your breath for it. You are welcome, however, to share your own insights in the comments below or in the Forum, or by sending me a message.

  1. Dear sir/madamme, (I have not your name Mr. Mrs. Miss, xxxxx please).
I was pointed to your Web site by our son in Melbourne today, Tuesday 14th. of May 2024.
I’m 88 yo, born in Hobart and grew up in Victoria and NSW., so I can’t add anything to you “Creeks” project.
I came to Brisbane in 1952 or so and married and settled in Sylvan Road Toowong. I am very interested in local Brisbane history. I have done little walks in Brisbane which I make into movies. But I never did anything on creeks and rivers. Too bad. I will view more of your Web site in time. Best wishes to you with your project.
    Mr. John C.E. D’Alton.
