Historical photographs

The interactive map below shows a selection of historical photos taken in and around the Western Creek catchment. The locations are only approximations, and in some cases are little more than educated guesses. Any suggestions to more accurately place the photos are welcome.

The bulk of these photos have come from the collection of the John Oxley Library (State Library of Queensland), with the remainder coming from the Queensland State Archives, the Brisbane City Council and the National Library of Australia. All of them are available online via the relevant web catalogues. These represent the vast bulk of what I have been able to find from these sources, though there are several photos whose locations I have not yet been able to determine. I intend to set up a separate page where people can contribute their thoughts about where those photos belong. You can also view these photos as a Picasa Web Album.

I will periodically add new photos to this map. If you have any historical photos of the area that you would like to share, I would love to hear from you.
