A natural pond at the lowest portion of the Government House grounds.

Rehabilitated with help from Ithaca Intact in 2007, this pond extends under Baroona Road into Norman Buchan Park, where it is much less picturesque. Anecdotal evidence suggests that this pond doesn’t dry out entirely even during times of drought. Most likely, the pond is fed by a spring, and could even be a relic of the ‘chain of ponds’ that John Oxley described when he explored the area in 1824.
