Created in 1864 by the Brisbane Board of Waterworks, this incredible plan shows the proposed water supply pipeline route from Enoggera Reservoir to Brisbane City.

I’m not sure if this was the final route or the route that was planned before difficulties were encountered when building the tunnel across the boundary of the Ithaca Creek and Western Creek catchments.

This is one of only two maps I have found that depict the path of Western Creek through what is now Norman Buchan Park, the Governor’s grounds and Rosalie Village.

The original is held by the Brisbane City Archives. You won’t find the hi-res digitised version on their catalogue, so I must have obtained it when I visited the archives in person.
